I went to to Sea Level on a Thursday at 7:00 p.m. to buy fish. I purchased 2-$39.99 and 1-$59.99 dollar peacock cichlids. I have a 74 gallon with 8 other cichlids. Also purchased food, rock and plants, new hide outs for new fish. My tank is a day/night, light set up on from 3pm to11pm. Watched the fish until 11:00 and nothing out of the ordinary happening for cichlids. The large cichlid was a imperfect fish but I found that adorable so I bought him. By 5:30pm Friday the large fish was facing nose down in the plants, other fish just fine. Watched him and was upside down by the Saturday morning.

I think he was an unhealthy fish to begin with and couldn’t handle the change and other fish. Also, You should tell your customer, on the receipt or door sign, we guarantee nothing. Once the fish leaves the store no returns or guarantees. Just wanted a new fish, wish it would of turned out better.

Here is my problem.

Also, the “marks” that showed signs of being beat up could of been there when he left the store.

Knowledgeable staff. Owner is super knowledgeable and very helpful. Great prices. Clean pretty tanks with beautiful creatures, fun to look around. Great selection.

One of the best fish stores in Minnesota, the staff (all of them!) are great and very knowledgeable. They are great with recommendations and I've never overheard them trying to sell fish that are inappropriate for a given tank size. The tanks are all incredibly clean, healthy fish and they have a great stock of used tanks as well. Hands down a must go to if you are into aquariums.

One of the better fish stores in MN, great advise. However the last couple times I've been there have been some sick or dead fish in the tanks. I haven't not really seen this before here so don't know of this is ongoing now or flukes. Holding a 4 Star review for now.

Called, a man answered,to see if there is any guarantees to new fish and was told to bring the fish and a water sample. Brought both in and a woman helped me. She tested the water and it checked out okay and put fish in a bucket hoping to get him healthy. Said possible swim bladder issue. Said he showed signs of getting beat up by the other fish. At this time she said the owner would not do anything about the fish or give me a new fish so sorry cannot help you. So I’m out $59.99 and no fish.

24 hours in a new tank and the existing fish beat it up to near death and other fish are fine.

Love this place. Great customer service. A wealth of knowledge about the hobby. Highly recommended.

She never called the owner.

He was imperfect to begin with so what is to say he didn’t have the best nutrition and couldn’t handle the change.
